Trekking in Chapada Diamantina, Brazil 

Chapada Diamantina is one of the best ecotourism destinations in Brazil and a great choice for the adventurous. This mountain range runs north to south through the state of Bahia in northeast Brazil, and our trip is dedicated to walking and trekking in the mountains and valleys for 8 days departing from Salvador.

Proposed itinerary

Day 1:  Arrive and meet rest of group, Salvador

Check into the hotel in Salvador and meet rest of group and tour leader. Dinner

Day 2: Travel to Lençois

Depart Salvador at 0700 to travel to Lençois (approxs 6 hours). Rest of day free.  Check into pousada. Dinner.

Day 3: Lençois/Pai Inaçio Grotto/Blue Grotto

Guided visit to Poço do Diabo (Devil's Pool) and the Blue Grotto.  Return for sunset views from Pai Inacio hill for some truly spectacular views of Chapada Diamantina.  Return to hotel, dinner

Day 4: Lençois/Morrão/Capão Valley

Hiking up Morrão mountain and then descend to the Capão valley and the pousada where we are staying for 2 nights.  Dinner

Day 5: Capão/Fumaça Waterfall

We will spend the morning trekking up to the Fumaça waterfall and after a relaxed lunch return to the pousada. Dinner

Day 6: Capão/Mucugê/Guiné trail

Today is dedicated to one of the most beautiful treks in the national park with about 6 hours walking.  We will have views over the Pati Valley and at the end of the trek we have a transfer to Mucugê where we are staying for 2 nights.  Dinner at the pousada

Day 7: Mucugê/Igatu/Blue Pool

After breakfast we drive 30km to the Blue Pool, so called for its fabulous iridescent colour.  Swim and lunch at the pool. Afternoon transfer to Igatu.  Overnight and dinner

Day 8: Igatu/Rampa do Caim

Today we hike up the Rampa do Caim and do some sightseeing in the Pati Valley.  Return to Igatu for overnight and dinner

Day 9: Igatu/Lençois/Salvador

After breakfast, transfer to Lençois and private transfer to Salvador.  Last night in pousada with dinner. END OF TRIP.

Trekking itinerary includes:

• Pre-and post-trip guesthouse/hotel accommodation, twin room, B&B
• Road transfers Salvador / Lençóis / Salvador
• Local jeep transfers in Chapada Diamantina
• All accommodation during trekking (shared)
• All meals during the trek (some picnic lunches)
• Bilingual guide/tour leader throughout the trip

International travel, internal flights and medical insurance are not included.
