Sample itinerary
Day 1
Depart London Gatwick on direct flight to Holguin. Met on arrival and private transfer to 3* hotel in Santiago de Cuba. Double room, B&B x 4 nights.
Day 2
Free day to explore Santiago and relax and listen to live traditional Cuban music in the Casa de la Trova
Day 3
Guided city tour of Santiago with visit to Jose Marti mauseleum, San Juan Hill, the Moncada Barracks where Fidel and his followers first tried to overthrow the Batista regime and late afternoon visit to El Morro castle for the sunset cannon ceremony. Evening free
Day 4
Optional 2 hour salsa lesson with professional dancers. Free day to explore Santiago at leisure.
Day 5
Early morning departure from Santiago to Baracoa by coach (5 hours) and check into 3* Hotel El Castillo or equivalent in the town centre. Double room, B&B x 3 nights.
Days 6 - 7
Free days to explore the area or for local trekking in the Alexander Humboldt national park, to climb El Yunque or take a cayuka trip down the Toa River.
Day 8
Private transfer to 3* Villa Maguana on secluded beach north of Baracoa. Bungalow, double room, half board x 3 nights.
Days 9-10
Free time to relax on the beach, swim and snorkel
Day 11
Check in at Baracoa airport for morning flight to Havana. Arrive Havana at lunchtime and transfer to 4* Hostal Raquel in Old Havana. Double room, B&B x 3 nights.
Days 12- 13
Optional morning walking tour of Old Havana (approx 2 hours) with bilingual guide (+£8 pp). Afternoon visit to Museum of Modern Art or gallery, explore the city or shopping in the local crafts market. Evenings free.
Day 14
Make own way to airport late afternoon for overnight flight to London. Arrive next morning at 1030.
International flights with Cubana including 1 internal flight, Santiago to Havana + Cuban tourist card.
