Learn German in Kitzbühel, Austria
Kitzbühel is a small medieval town in the western province of Tyrol, an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Austrian Alps. As well as being the perfect place for outdoor activities during the summer, the resort is well known internationally for its excellent winter skiing conditions, making this an ideal location for German plus ski trips. It is a small and safe destination with a population of just over 8,000 inhabitants and is well served by trains, buses and roads. It is approximately 1 hour by car from Innsbruck and Salzburg and 1.5 hours from Munich.
Our school is located in a pretty suburb just 15 minutes on foot from the town centre with easy access to and from the slopes by bus (bus stop is just 3 minutes' walk from the school). Accommodation options, sports facilities, shops, bars, restaurants and a bank are all located nearby. There are also tennis courts and a riding school within walking distance of the school.
Courses are available all year round for a variety of ages and levels. Fees include a placement test upon arrival and all course materials. Please click on one of the options below for more details:
Cultural activities and excursions are offered throughout the year, designed to bring students of all nationalities together and guided by a native German speaking teacher who encourages them to speak German in authentic situations:
- Winter/Early Spring: the skiing/snowboarding season runs from the end of November to the end of April. In the morning coffee break between lessons, it is agreed where to ski and when to meet up at the bus stop after classes. The school director, Hans, used to be a ski instructor and knows the mountains very well, making an excellent guide for these excursions.
- Late Spring, Summer and Autumn: the Alps is an area of outstanding natural beauty where the mountain walks and the natural lakes are simply spectacular and popular with photographers. It is also a great golf location. Excursions are also organized to visit the historic towns of Innsbruck, Salzburg and Munich.
Accommodation is available in local guesthouses, all year round.
Transfers: the best airports for reaching Kitzbuhel are Munich and Salzburg, and Innsbruck is also possible. There are airport transfers available through private companies; from Munich it is approximately 88 Euros return, and from Salzburg it is approximately 60 Euros return. School Closure: the school opens on 9 Jan 2012 and will close on 23 Dec 2012 for the festive period and re-open on 6 Jan 2013. During this period, there will be no classes.

Young at Heart Course in Kitzbühel
This 2-week course is designed for mature students aged 50+ years. Language learning is focused on communicating and the use of practical, everyday German, taught in small groups. This is combined with a programme of cultural activities and social events. Guesthouse accommodation is included in this programme. This is a private home with a friendly hostess who will encourage you to speak German at breakfast time! It is just 2 minutes' walk from the school. There are 3 guest bedrooms, each with ensuite shower (toilet in the corridor), as well as a separate apartment.
