Portugal has more to offer than many countries ten times its size: some of Europe's best beaches, a range of Roman ruins, medieval walled towns, terraced vineyards, country festivals, rugged mountain landscapes and quaint fishing villages... and all relatively unspoiled by mass tourism. Portuguese is the third most widely spoken European language in the world after English and Spanish, and is an important language on all five continents.

Brazil
Salvador da Bahia is a vibrant city in north-east Brazil, full of music and dance. Founded in 1549, it was the first colonial capital of Brazil and today is known as ‘the capital of happiness' due to its easygoing population. It is also the centre of Afro-Brazilian culture, with both Portuguese and African influences. The historic centre boasts impressive colonial architecture and offers up an exotic cocktail of typical music, dress, dance and food. The annual Carnival is famous for its all night street parties and parades. And the state of Bahia boasts beaches, rain forest, rivers, mountains and of course, sun!
