Learn Portuguese in Lisbon

Capital of Portugal, Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world, outdating other European capitals such as London, Paris and Rome by hundreds of years. Situated on the Atlantic coast in the southern half of Portugal, it enjoys a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and long summers. Today, Lisbon has a population of over 500,000 and boasts two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery. Portuguese is the third most widely spoken European language in the world, after English and Spanish, and is an important language on all five continents.

Our school is located near the picturesque Eduard VII Park in an area of the city which is both residential and commercial. There are 3 school buildings with a total of 20 well equipped classrooms, all within easy walking distance of each other. There is internet and Wi-Fi access for students.

Cultural activities and excursions are offered throughout the year, to encourage students to discover and explore the city and local area. Upon arrival, students will be provided with the monthly programme.

Accommodation is available in local homestays all year round.

Transfers: one way transfer to/from Lisbon Portela Airport costs £50 for one student or £60 for two students travelling together.

School Closure: 21 Feb, 6/25* Apr, 1 May, 7/13* Jun, 15 Aug, 5 Oct, 1 Nov and 25 Dec 2012. The school will be closed on these public holidays and no classes will be held. Missed group classes will not be rescheduled. Individual lessons will either go ahead anyway or be rescheduled.

*All lessons will be held as usual on these dates, in order that students do not miss more than 1 day of group tuition over a 4-week period.

General and Combination Portuguese Courses in Lisbon

A variety of Portuguese courses are available with group and individual lessons. For combination courses, students can choose the number of individual lessons which they wish to take per day. These courses are aimed at those wishing to take Portuguese lessons whilst on holiday in the Algarve, as they coincide with school breaks. The focus is on oral communication with intensive practice.

Portuguese + Surfing in Lisbon

This course runs from April to September, combining morning Portuguese lessons with afternoon surfing tuition provided by professionally trained instructors. Lisbon beaches offer high quality surfing for all abilities, suitable for beginner to advanced. All equipment is provided and transport to/from the beach is included. Please note that surfing is dependent on the weather and sea conditions, so lessons are scheduled at the time. Course fees also include placement test, course material + certificate, use of school facilities including internet access and social/cultural activities.
