Learn Russian in St Petersburg, Russia

St Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia, with a population of 4.6 million. Founded in 1703 by Tsar Peter the Great, it was the capital of Russia for periods during the 18th century.  Located on the Neva River at the head of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea, St Petersburg is an important Russian port and known as the most Western city of Russia. It is a popular tourist destination with plenty to see and do, including the Hermitage, the largest art museum in the world.

Our school is located in the city centre near parks and rivers and surrounded by examples of St Petersburg's beautiful architecture. Situated on the second floor of a building dating back to the 19th century building, it has 13 large, bright classrooms and offers free Wi-Fi, a resource centre and small cafe for students. The nearest metro station is only 5 minutes on foot and there is a large choice of places to eat and drink as well as shops within walking distance.

Client feedback

My trip was purely a learning trip, to see how far I could get into learning Russian in a short time.  It's been hard but really useful, interesting and enjoyable.  The central location of the school is great to see the city itself just outside the school and the building offers spacious rooms, all with TV/DVD, nice reception area, small but smart cafeteria, an internet area and a room to study after the lessons.  The Russian course went well.  The teacher asked me what I wanted to learn and organised lessons around my needs.  She was really patient, and I had to do a test at the end of each week to see how I was getting on.  The people working there are always ready to help, and organising interesting events.  The family I was staying with were really nice and trying to help with the language, only speaking Russian.  I was eating whatever they were cooking for themselves, and eating together some time: they just told me to help myself whenever I was ready for dinner.  The freedom of coming and going, the trust was a breath of fresh air.  Nice, clean and big bedroom.  I really enjoyed my trip, and meeting people I met in school and outside school.  Well recommended. MT - Individual Russian Tuition (April 2011)
