Spanish in Sucre, Bolivia
Bolivia, known as the Tibet of Latin America, straddles the Andean mountains in the heart of the continent and is a fascinating country with a wealth of nature and culture. The majestic Andean mountains are at their widest in Bolivia and the two parallel ranges known as cordilleras which stretch the full length of the country are separated by an extensive and stunning high plateau. Bustling La Paz with its colourful markets is one of the world's highest cities and Sucre, the location of our school, is without doubt the most beautiful colonial city in the country.
Sucre is the official capital of Bolivia (although La Paz is the seat of the government) and has a population of just 150,000. It is known as the "white city" of the Americas due to its well preserved colonial architecture which is painted white with shiny red roof tiles. Sucre is home to a busy university, many museums and beautiful parks and a lively central square. This is a very relaxing place to study with an excellent climate, yet the city has a lively pace of life due to the large resident student population. The city is of great historical significance nationally as it was here that General Antonio Jose de Sucre signed the country's Declaration of Independence.
Bolivian Spanish is very easy to understand, and our school in Sucre offers excellent value for money. It's easy to understand why Bolivian is one of the favourite South American destinations for our students.
Our school is located in a lovely old colonial building with an open courtyard just one street away from the central square. It has 14 classrooms, a kitchen for cookery classes, a small terrace, a colonial style patio and a video room.
Spanish courses start every Monday throughout the year and can be taken in the mornings or afternoons.
Lessons are 55 minutes and are taught in classes of 5 students maximum, or one to one.
Minimum age is 18 years

Cultural activities and excursions: 2 activities/excursions are offered per week to help students discover the city and local culture.
Arrival transfer: for students arriving at Sucre Airport we can arrange for you to be met by your homestay host, or a representative from the school, and taken to your accommodation. This service costs £20.
Accommodation is available in local homestays.
Public Holidays: the school will be closed on the following days 1 Jan, 22/23/24 Feb, 10 Apr, 1/25 May, 11 Jun, 6 Aug, 2 Nov, 22 Dec 2010 to 1 Jan 2011 and no lessons will be held.
General and Combination Spanish Courses
A variety of group and private Spanish courses are available. Lessons run from Monday to Friday and each lesson is 55 minutes.
Prices include single room homestay accommodation with half board (breakfast and dinner). Perfect for those who want to be fully immersed in everyday Bolivian life.

This is the perfect course for those who would like to combine their Spanish lessons with fun and cultural activities/excursions to discover the real Sucre. The programme of activities varies throughout the year but will usually include visits to museums, cathedrals, markets, etc. All transport and entrance fees are included for you and your teacher or guide.
