Spanish in Benalmadena, Spain

A favourite Costa del Sol destination less than an hour west of Malaga, Benalmadena is a picturesque resort full of history which still retains its original charm. The town has a resident population of just 30,000 and has developed over the years into a lively and animated place with a large modern marina. The Benalmadena beaches are superb and it is easy to visit the main Andalucian cities such as Malaga, Seville and Cordoba.

The reason I chose Benalmadena was beacuse I'd never been to that part of the Costa del Sol and it was beautiful. I would certainly recommend this course to anyone that seriously wants to improve their languages. GH, Shetland - General Spanish Course, Apr '10

Our school is in a modern building with 14 bright classrooms, air-conditioning, a multimedia room with free internet access, a 25 seat cinema used for films and talks, a large terrace where students meet between lessons with a small summertime café and common room. Shops, cafés, restaurants, bars, the local swimming pool and sports centre are within easy walking distance and the beaches are just minutes away.

Minimum age is 18 years (except for Teen Summer Course)

Cultural activities and excursions are offered throughout the year, varying from week to week and according to the season. Many activities are free of charge or have a small fee payable at the school e.g. Spanish movies, museums visits, Flamenco lessons, evening outings to tapas bars etc. Weekend excursions are also offered and should be paid for at the school.

Accommodation is available in homestays, shared apartments, and in the school residence, all year round. Hotels and studio apartments available on request.

Transfers: airport pick up/ drop off costs £50 one way and £85 return (Malaga airport)

Public holidays: The school will close from 1 to 6 Jan, 1 Mar, 2 Apr, 1 May, 15 Aug, 12 Oct, 1 Nov, 6/8 Dec and from the 25 to 31 Dec 2010 and no classes will be held on these days.

General and Combination Spanish Courses

A variety of Spanish courses are available with group and private lessons. Group classes take place in the mornings and have an average of 8 (max 10) students per class. Reduced rates are available for courses of 7+ weeks, please contact us for details.

Spanish and Cookery

If you love Spanish food, this is the course for you! This course combines Spanish tuition with lessons on Spanish gastronomy and Mediterranean cooking. Students will learn how to prepare typical Spanish dishes such as Tortilla Española and Sangría, Gazpacho and Ensalada Malagueña, Paella, Porra Antequerana and Pescaito Frito. All cookery classes will be taught by a professional cook.

This course offers the opportunity to combine learning Spanish with one of the most popular dances in Andalucia. Flamenco classes are taught by a professional flamenco dancer and focus on the development of flamenco techniques through the integration of footwork patterns, hands' and arms' movement, body attitude, turns, etc.

Young at Heart Course, 50+ years 

This course is designed for mature students aged 50+ years. The course combines Spanish tuition based on a highly communicative method in small groups and an extensive programme of social events and cultural activities. The programme includes: an orientation tour of the town on the first day; two half day visits per week to local places such as Malaga, Mijas or Nerja and Marbella; a full day excursion at the weekend to places such as Granada, Seville and Ronda; seminars on Spanish Arts or Literature; Spanish movie evenings; and one evening outing with the teachers per week (meal / entrances not included).

These courses are specifically designed for teenagers and combine formal classroom tuition with a varied programme of supervised leisure activities, visits and excursions to introduce the students to Spanish culture, sports and lifestyles.

Summer course for 14-17 year olds (2+ weeks)
