Learn Spanish in Jaca, Spain 

Set in the western side of the Spanish Pyrenees, in the north of the province of Aragon, Jaca is a small mountain city (the size of a town), just 30km from France.  It is easy to find your way around, the locals are very friendly and the bars of the old town serve fantastic tapas to accompany a morning coffee or evening drink.  In the winter, the snow on the peaks is just a short bus ride away, with the famous ski resort Candanchú and also Astún offering opportunities for downhill and cross country skiing as well as snowboarding.  The rest of the year, the green pasture and mountainous landscape make this a beautiful part of the country to explore, with the Ordesa National Park nearby with an extensive range of nature walks and hikes, as well as small villages and larger cities such as Pamplona and Zaragoza, for shopping, culture and entertainment.

Our school is on the main road running through Jaca, easily accessible on foot from all accommodation options.  It is a small, family-run school, accredited by the Cervantes Institute, with computer access and self-study facilities, and attracts students from all over the world, for both short term and long term study.

Cultural activities and excursions are offered throughout the year.  

• Winter/Early Spring: the skiing/snowboarding season in Jaca runs from the beginning of December to the end of March, making it the perfect location to combine Spanish tuition with winter sports such as downhill and cross country skiing and snowboarding.  The famous resort of Candanchú is easily accessible by bus from Jaca.  Please note that lift passes are not included in the course fees but can be reserved through us and payment made upon arrival (students are accompanied to resort on first day); please contact us for details.  Students may choose which Spanish course they combine with their winter sports. 
• Late Spring/Summer and Autumn: the rest of the year round, Jaca and its surrounding area offers plenty to explore: a variety of flora and fauna and extensive walks/hikes in the nearby Ordesa National Park; follow the famous 'Camino de Santiago' which passes through Jaca; historic monuments, fabulous scenery and wonderful gastronomy; and small villages and larger cities such as Pamplona and Zaragoza, for shopping, culture and entertainment.

Accommodation is available in homestays, shared apartments, the family-run hotel and a residence all year round. 

Transfers: Ryanair operate from London Stansted to Zaragoza, followed by a 3 hour bus journey from the bus station to Jaca.  Alternatively, a one-way transfer from/to Zaragoza Airport to Jaca costs £170.  Other airports and transfer costs are as follows: Pau one-way costs £150; Biarritz one-way costs £220; Bilbao one-way costs £285.

School Closure: 1 Jan, 1 May and 25 Dec 2012.  The school will be closed on these days and no classes will be held. Only individual lessons will be rescheduled.  If there are any other local holidays which occur throughout the year, all lessons will be rescheduled to other days in the week.

Grammar and Conversation Spanish Courses in Jaca

These courses are designed for those who wish to focus on perfecting their grammar or improving their confidence and ability in conversational Spanish.  They are less intense than the General and Intensive Courses, with fewer hours of class per day.

Individual Spanish Course in Jaca

One-to-one tuition is ideal for those who would like intensive learning or those who wish to focus on specific topics as lesson content can be tailored to each individual's needs.  The main focus is on conversation.

Accommodation in Jaca

Homestay

This type of accommodation is perfect for those who wish to be fully immersed in everyday Spanish life.  Accommodation is from Sunday to Saturday (i.e. 1 week = 6 nights).  Bed linen, towels and clothes washing all included.

Shared Apartment     

This type of accommodation is ideal for those who wish to have more independence.  Apartments are centrally located, within walking distance of the school and usually have 2-3 students with shared kitchen facilities, bathroom, TV and washing machine.  Bed linen and towels included.

Hotel

This is a charming, family-run mountain hotel.  It is just 15 minutes' walk to the school and offers tranquillity in a quiet area of Jaca.  Recently redecorated, it is very homely and comfortable, with en-suite bathroom, fitted wardrobe, desk and television in each room.

Residence

This type of accommodation is ideal for groups studying in Jaca.  There are 3 floors of bedrooms, ranging from singles to a large multi-bed dorm.  Special prices for large groups may be negotiated. Accommodation includes breakfast.
