Madrid, the capital of Spain, is a modern, cosmopolitan city with many of the country's most important museums and historic buildings including the Prado Museum and the Palacio Real.  Located in the centre of the country, it is the largest city with 3.3million inhabitants and residence of the Spanish monarch.  Boasting majestic tree-lined avenues, impressive architecture, large parks and an exciting nightlife, Madrid is also famous for its cuisine and sampling delicious tapas in local bars is one of the highlights of any visit. 

Our school is situated in central Madrid, near the historic Buen Retiro park.  The school is located in a modern building with 22 fully equipped classrooms with air-conditioning, a library, social area with cafeteria and free internet and Wi-Fi access.

Cultural activities and excursions are offered to encourage students discover the city and local culture including: visits + excursions within and outside of the city, Spanish film nights, talks, theatre trips, workshops, etc.

Accommodation is available in local homestays, the school residence and shared apartments, all year round. 

Transfers: one way transfer to/from Madrid Barajas Airport costs £70

School Closure: 1/6 Jan, 19 Mar, 5/6 Apr, 1/2 May, 25 Jul, 15 Aug, 12 Oct, 1/9 Nov and 6 Dec 2012.  The school will be closed on these public holidays and no classes will be held. Only individual lessons will be rescheduled.  The school will also be closed from 22 - 31 Dec 2012 for the festive period.

Individual Spanish Course in Madrid

One-to-one tuition is ideal for those who would like intensive learning or those who wish to focus on specific topics as lesson content can be tailored to an individual's needs.

Spanish Exam Revision Course in Madrid

The main purpose of this course is to improve pupils' spoken Spanish, grammatical weak points, essay planning and writing techniques in preparation for A-Level Spanish examinations (or equivalent).  Morning lessons are dedicated to grammar and functional Spanish whilst afternoon lessons are devoted to practising critical reading and writing techniques.  The final afternoon is set aside for a test under exam conditions.  Cultural activities are included each week (e.g. guided city tour, museum and monument visits, language exchange with Spanish teenagers, Flamenco class etc.) and are supervised by a member of staff from the school.

2012 Start dates: 26 March (1 week only), 9 April (1 week only), 2/16/30 July and 13 August

Please note: the school will be closed and no classes will be held on 25 July and 15 August 2012, due to public holidays.  The missed classes will either be rescheduled during the week, or a practical language excursion will be organised in place of classes, guided by a Spanish teacher.

More Teen and Exam Revision Courses

Teen Summer Course in Madrid, 13-17 years

These courses are specifically designed for teenagers.  They are run during the school holidays and combine classroom language tuition with a varied programme of supervised leisure activities and excursions.  An excellent opportunity for young students to be immersed in the language, experience Spanish culture, make new friends and gain confidence.

2012 Start dates: 25 June and 2/9/23/30 July 2012

The social and cultural programme: one excursion at the weekend plus daily afternoon activities/excursions (Mon-Fri) such as a guided orientation tour of Madrid, a visit to the Sorolla museum, a language exchange session, swimming pool time, a visit to the Real Madrid football stadium, conversation club, disco, etc.

Accommodation in Madrid

Accommodation is near the school and can be easily reached by foot or public transport. All options run from Sunday to Saturday (1 week = 6 nights).  Bed linen and towels are included.

Homestay

This type of accommodation is perfect for those who wish to be fully immersed in everyday Spanish life and have the opportunity to practise Spanish outside of the classroom.

Student Residence

This type of accommodation offers the opportunity to live with fellow students and is within walking distance from the school.

Shared Apartment     

This type of accommodation is ideal for those who wish to have more independence.  Self-catering apartments are available with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities.
