Spanish + Surfing in Montañita

People from all over the world travel to Montañita to enjoy the famous surf: strong, consistent waves (varying from 0.3-2m throughout the year) and good tubes offer great conditions for all levels. In February each year, during Carnival, Montañita hosts an international surfing competition. You will be instructed by Luis, a surf professional, and there is a good range of boards, wet suits and rash tops as well as some exciting technology for the improvers such as attachable video cameras for surfboards. Every second weekend, there is a day trip along the coast to practise some of the new moves you have been learning in class.

Spanish + Latin Dance in Montañita

This course is a great opportunity to combine Spanish and dance tuition, to learn some new moves for the dance floor, covering the 4 most common dance styles seen at the clubs in Montañita.

Week 1, Ritmo Sabroso: 5-lesson introduction to the basics of Merengue, Bachata, Cumbia and Lambada
Week 2, Salsa Fuego: 4-lesson introduction to the basic steps and turns of Salsa + Friday night practice session in a club

Discover Ecuador from Montañita

This is a travelling classroom, offering the opportunity to learn Spanish whilst exploring Ecuador. The adventure begins in Montañita and continues north to Manta, a city which offers a range of activities and is just a short distance from Isla de la Plata which is home to rare and exotic wildlife - if you are lucky, you may even see humpback whales as they migrate to the Galapagos! From Manta, the journey continues to Quito, the capital of Ecuador where, amongst other activities, you will visit the ‘Mitad del Mundo' marking the equator, Cotopaxi National Park and take the famous high train ride at Riobamba. The journey ends in Cuenca, a historic, colonial city with its art and museums as well as the Cajas National Park with its 275 lakes. From here, you may choose to return to your favourite destination for an extra week or two. Alternatively, you may choose to take the trip of a lifetime to the natural wonderland of the Galapagos Islands; this incurs an extra cost so please contact us for details.

The ‘cabanas' were constructed with the environment in mind, made of bamboo with thatched roofs. They are located just 5 minutes on foot from the school and 3 minutes from the centre of town. They are spacious and offer ensuite bathrooms, large beds, hammocks and fans. There is also a large garden as well as access to a swimming pool, jacuzzi, large communal kitchen and a spacious social area with TV/DVD facilities. Accommodation is self-catering.
