Learn Spanish in Quito, Ecuador
Ecuador has a thriving indigenous culture and is a relatively small country with just 14.5 million inhabitants. It is bordered by Colombia, Peru and the Pacific Ocean and it straddles the equator, hence its name. It has some of the most varied geography in South America with four main regions: the Andean highlands, the coastal tropical plains, the Amazon basin and the Galapagos Islands, 1,000km west of the mainland. Ecuador is a country of big contrasts, with extreme ranges of climate and geography resulting in a huge variety of animal and plant life, many of them endemic. It is the first country in the world to recognise legally enforceable ecosystem rights.
Quito is the capital of Ecuador, located on the equator, in the Andes Mountains at 2,800m above sea level. With a population of over 2.5 million, it is a lively city and has an exciting nightlife as well as a colourful street culture with markets selling traditional artifacts and clothes. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the 1970s for its historic centre, which was the best preserved and least altered out of Latin America.
Our school is located in a beautifully converted former ambassador's house, surrounded by gardens in a quiet residential area of the city. It is well connected by public transport and there are many restaurants, shops, parks and shopping centres nearby. The school has 21 well-equipped classrooms, library, video room, internet access, student common room, cafeteria, indoor patio, solarium and a multipurpose indoor court (for various sports).
Courses are available all year round for a variety of ages and levels and ALL courses include accommodation. A course placement test, all course materials and a completion certificate are included in course fees. Please click on one of the options below for more details:

Cultural activities and excursions are offered throughout the year to encourage students to discover the city and local culture. For example: evening out to see the folkloric ballet, cable car up Pichincha Volcano, visit the ‘Mitad del Mundo' monument on the equator, visits to museums and fruit and handicraft markets, professional football matches, film nights, etc.
Accommodation is included in the course fees: single room, half board in local homestays, which is the perfect way to be immersed in everyday Ecuadorian culture. Shared room homestay accommodation and residence accommodation is also available upon request.
Transfers: for students arriving at Quito Airport, we can arrange for you to be met by your homestay host, or a representative from the school, and taken to your accommodation. This service costs £20.
School closure: 1 Jan, 21/22 Feb, 5 Apr, 1/24 May, 10 Aug, 9 Oct, 2/3 Nov and 6 Dec 2012. The school will be closed on these public holidays and will also close for the festive period on 17 Dec 2012, re-opening on 2 Jan 2013. No classes will be held on these dates. Only individual classes will be rescheduled.

Active Spanish Course in Quito
This course is aimed at those who wish to combine their Spanish lessons with some cultural practice outside of the classroom. Students can choose between group or individual Spanish tuition to combine with their ‘active learning' which includes fun, cultural activities and excursions, with their teacher or a guide. The programme varies throughout the year, but will usually include visits to museums, cathedral, markets, etc. All transport and entrance costs are included.

This course is aimed at those who want an intensive form of learning as 40 hours per week is a very full timetable for language tuition.
