Learn Spanish in San Sebastian, Spain 

San Sebastian is a beautiful location in the Basque Country in the north of Spain. With a small population of approximately 180,000 inhabitants, this compact city has it all: three wonderful beaches, three stunning hill-top views, an idyllic island in the centre of the bay, the narrow streets of the old town full of bars offering local wines, delicious pintxos (tapas) and a great atmosphere, picturesque Basque countryside surrounding the city and easy access to the Pyrenees mountain range.  With cultural festivals all year round and some of the best gastronomy in Spain, it is easy to see why this is a popular choice with students.

Our school is located next to the river and the beautiful Cristina Enea Park, only 20 minutes walk from the city centre.  There are 18 spacious, well-equipped classrooms, library, social areas with computer access and Wi-Fi and an open-air terrace with snacks and drinks machines.  There is also a modern gym right next door to the school which offers significant discounts for our students.

Courses are available all year round for a variety of ages and levels.  Please click on one of the options below for more details:

Cultural activities and excursions are offered throughout the year to help students make the most of their time in San Sebastian.  For example: city tours, visits to museums, sports events, nature walks, parties and festival celebrations.

Accommodation is available in homestays and shared apartments, all year round. 

Transfers: one way transfers are available to/from the following airports: Bilbao £135, Biarritz (France) £95 or San Sebastian £65, or Irun/Hendaya train station £65.  However, for Bilbao we recommend taking the direct bus to San Sebastian which runs frequently from Bilbao bus station.

School Closure: 1/6/20 Jan, 6/9 Apr, 1 May, 31 Jul, 15 Aug, 12/25 Oct, 1 Nov and 6/8/25 Dec 2012.  The school will be closed on these public holidays and no classes will be held.  Missed lessons will not be rescheduled.  However, courses running 2 - 13 Apr and 3 - 8 Dec will have an extended group lesson timetable, so only 1 hour will be missed in total.  The school will also close on 28 Dec 2012 for the festive period and re-open on 2 Jan 2013.

One-to-one tuition is ideal for those who would like intensive learning or those who wish to focus on specific topics as lesson content can be tailored to an individual's needs.  Please note that lessons missed due to public holidays will not be charged for.

Spanish + Surfing in San Sebastian

This course combines Spanish group lessons and surfing tuition with a professionally trained instructor, offered all year round.  San Sebastian is a great place to learn how to surf, as well as catering for more experienced surfers.  Surf tuition takes place at Zurriola beach, only 20 minutes' walk from the school.  All materials are provided: board, wetsuit, insurance + hot showers in winter.

Spanish + Basque Cuisine in San Sebastian

This course combines Spanish group lessons and cookery classes with a professional chef at the ‘Sociedad Gastronomica'.  The first day includes a trip to a local market to shop for ingredients as well as an introduction to the Sociedad.  San Sebastian is known for outstanding gastronomy, so you will be in for a treat!

Teen Summer Course in San Sebastian, 14 - 17 years

This course is specifically designed for teenagers.  It combines classroom language tuition with a varied programme of supervised leisure activities and excursions, as well as homestay accommodation, to experience the local culture firsthand.  San Sebastian is ideal for younger students: small, safe, comfortable and less overwhelming than larger European cities.  An excellent opportunity for young students to be immersed in the language, experience Spanish culture, make new friends and gain confidence.

This course is designed for non-native teachers of Spanish with an advanced language level who would like to refresh their grammar, methodology, pronunciation and classroom strategy, as well as broadening their knowledge of Spanish culture.  It also offers the opportunity to exchange views and ideas with classroom colleagues from other countries.
