San Sebastian is a beautiful location in the north of Spain which provides a perfect city and beach environment. Three wonderful beaches, picturesque Basque countryside, excellent gastronomy and easy access to the Pyrenean mountains make this a popular choice with students who want to get away to a different part of Spain. With cultural festivals all year round, a huge range of bars and restaurants serving tapas which are renowned as amongst the best in Spain and friendly inhabitants, it is easy to see why San Sebastian is so popular.

Our school is located in the centre of the city, less than 5 minutes walk from the beach, in new premises which are well equipped for teaching.

Minimum age is 17 years (unless indicated otherwise)

Courses are available all year round for a variety of ages and levels:

Cultural activities and excursions are offered to help students discover the city and local culture.

Accommodation is available in the homestays and shared apartments, all year round and in the school's residence during the summer months. Hotels and private apartments available on request.

Airport transfers are also available on request.

A variety of private and group Spanish courses are available.  Lessons run from Monday to Friday and each lesson is 45 minutes.

Please note: From Monday 5 July - Friday 27th August, a high season supplement fee of £35 per week is applicable to all of the above course prices.

Spanish and Surfing

This course combines Spanish lessons and surfing tuition with a professionally trained instructor. San Sebastian offers high quality surfing for all levels.  All materials are provided (board, wetsuit, insurance and a hot shower in winter). This course is offered year round and must be booked with a Spanish course.

+£85 per week

• Course duration: Minimum 1 week
• No. of Surfing lessons per week: 5 x 1 hour lessons, Monday to Friday
• Maximum no. of students per instructor: 6
• Minimum level: suitable for all levels from beginner to advanced

Teen Summer Course (14 - 17 years)

This course is the ideal way to combine holiday fun with a valuable language learning experience. Spanish lessons take place in the mornings and afternoons, and evenings and weekends are packed with activities which are all supervised and accompanied by the school's own teachers and monitors. Activities include workshops on Spanish customs and traditions, sports, swimming pool and beach activities, full day trips to nearby cities, museum visits, dance classes... and much more!

Prices include full board homestay accommodation and activities.

• Course duration: Minimum 2 weeks
• No. of Spanish lessons per week: 25 group tuition
• Maximum no. of students per class: 12
• Minimum level: suitable for all levels

Start dates: complete beginners must start on 5 July or 2 August 2010
All other levels can start on any Monday between 7 June and 27 August 2010. Last start date 15 August.

Teacher Refresher Course

This course is designed for practicing teachers of Spanish who wish to refresh their knowledge of the Spanish language, improve teaching methodology and broaden their knowledge of Spanish culture.

4 days £255 / 2 weeks £550 (excl. accommodation)

• Course duration: 4 days / 2 weeks
• No. of Spanish lessons: 4 day course = 24 group, 2 wk course = 22 lessons per wk
• Maximum no. of students per class: 12
• Minimum level: advanced

Start dates:  4 day course:  6 April or 11 October 2009
                   2 week course: 19 July or 9 August 2009

Caledonia is approved by the British Council to provide courses for language teachers (including teachers returning after a career break). Many teachers can apply for Comenius funding. Ask us for details.

Homestay

This type of accommodation is perfect for those who want to be fully immersed in everyday Spanish life. Homestay accommodation is on a half board basis (breakfast and dinner are included).

Shared Apartments

This type of accommodation is ideal for those who wish to have more independence. Students will either share with other students from the school or with local residents from San Sebastian. Self catering apartments with shared bathroom, living room and kitchen facilities.
